Photo: Isaac Sanchez; 2011 Dec 21; USA, Texas; Austin; Adult; Male;
Song: Song is a slow trill (notes barely countable, 8-10 per second), more musical than Chipping Sparrow but with a colourless quality, less buzzy than Palm Warbler. Also gives a faster, drier trill, more likely to be confused with Chipping Sparrow but usually shorter (less than 2 seconds). Compare also to Orange-crowned Warbler, Swamp Sparrow and Dark-eyed Junco.
